I think there comes a time in every person’s life when he has to ask himself, “Am I most effectively doing what Copyblogger tells me to do, to the point of abdicating my free will and possibly granting its editors power of attorney?” So this week, I took inventory and decided that I wasn’t spreading my words widely enough. To remedy the situation, I finally put some stuff up on Kindle as several people keep telling me I should do — my 2008 humor collection, two manifesto-weight posts to disseminate amongst the Kindle users of the world, and a short story from over a decade ago that I was shocked to discover I still really liked

This week, I went to Target, bought a $30 desk, built a stand that would raise it 18 inches in the air, stuck my in-laws’ unused treadmill under it, and made myself a walking desk . (I know the monitor needs to move up. You’re looking at the 1.0 iteration.) Yes, I know it’s a weird thing to do.

Last week, I was in Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest conference. Which meant that I did absolutely no conferencing and instead just hung out with people and caught up with both old and new friends. One of those old friends was Copyblogger founder Brian Clark, who told me he’d received the Copyblogger weekly wrap I’d written for last Saturday, but that he wouldn’t run it unless I bested him in an American Gladiators style competition wherein we’d attempt to knock each other off of the roof of Sonia’s rental house using giant padded Q-Tips.

I don’t understand air travel in the least. I mean, I’m on a plane as I’m writing this, and really, the physics of the whole thing are astounding when you stop to think about it.

I’m going to keep this week’s intro brief because my dog is biting me. My mother says he bites us all because he’s herding us (he’s a collie mix and barks and corrals when anyone runs), but I think it’s because he wants to be on the winning side.
